Frommer's New York City 2010

I am in New York City at the moment and have used the book all week. The map in the back is a tear-out and is sturdy enough to survive rainy days, and has kept me on track all week. The book is too large to carry all day, but we tear out the sections we need and it works well.

This thorough book organized gardens in New York city by location, gave subway and/or bus directions, and a wonderful description of each garden so it was easy to decide whether I wanted to go see that garden. It was amazing and I saw gardens big and small throughout my visit to the city in a short period of time. I'm going to check to see if the book is available for other places I tend to visit.

Not for Tourists 2010 Guide to New York City

My daughter recently relocated to Brooklyn, NY. I gave this book to her as a gift and she thanks me quite often for it. It has a map of the subway system that opens up from the last page and she said it has helped her soooo much. She carries it with her everywhere she goes in the city and said it is one of the best gifts she has ever received. She said she would recommend it to anyone who is moving to a big city. They have copies for different cities across the U.S.

TASCHEN's New York

The pics and descriptions are amazing. I'm familiar with many of the places mentioned and it's great to re-visit them all in a beautiful book. However, on both her pull-out map and the maps in the book, there is just a wide, open, gaping space in space where the Upper West Side is - my neighborhood. I guess I can understand if you decide not to feature any shop or restaurant in my neighborhood, but geez, can you at least acknowledge that the neighborhood exists? At least label the space instead of leaving a giant hole with no title.
